They protect their family from everyone and everything. Personally if I had kids I would want a dog like that around, especially as I grew up a latch key kid and sometimes the only one home when me and my brother got home from school were the dogs. To be discriminated on the basis of what kind of pet you own?? That is nonesense. My dad used to have piranahs, so does that mean he was a bad guy?? Not in the least.. He is so gentle and sweet. Could he have turned out to be different? Well, of course, with another trainer, another owner, another mommy... of course. The dog is not the issue, the trainer is. Train a protective breed to "protect" and what you end up with is aggression. I have a part shepherd part border collie, as well as a chow. Both can be snappy.. especially the chow chow breeds. My 2 dogs are lovable and gentle. They play, run, lick... and never nibble! I have to say from first hand experience that your full blood German Shepherd is such a lovable baby.
